About our club

The Club has its roots in the Weavering suburb of Maidstone, where the founding members established a social rugby team in 2003, amid the fervour of England’s World Cup victory.

Quickly building a reputation as the most sociable rugby team in the local area, the Club attracted significant numbers of early members and was able to field a senior team to play in friendly and social fixtures from around the county. Without a permanent base, the Club sought out opportunities to share pitches and facilities wherever possible, before opting to settle in the Parkwood area where it took up the lease of “The Pavilion”, a local authority-owned sports and recreation facility. In need of significant refurbishment after the exit of its previous tenant, the Royal British Legion, the Club set about making the facilities its own, with extensive updating work undertaken by members.

The establishment of this first permanent home set roots for the Club and enabled a drive towards maturing and stabilising for future playing generations, which saw membership grow and league status in the Kent County RFU firmly established. Sustained growth made possible the formation of a second senior men’s team, the Weavering Samurais, with the Club successfully fielding two sides since the 2019/2020 season.

In 2021, the Club recognised that becoming the community rugby club of choice would rely on developing homegrown talent as well as attracting new players. This led to the creation of the youth initiative, the Weavering Rebels, providing children with the opportunity to enjoy rugby in a safe, positive and fulfilling environment.

A landmark moment arrived in 2025 when, after two seasons without a base, the Club proudly took possession of its new home at the Parkwood Sports and Community Centre. This modern facility marks the next chapter in the Club’s journey, providing a high-quality environment for players, members and the wider community, and serving as the hub for all rugby and social activities.

In celebrating its 20th year in 2023, the Club committed to a strategy focused on its core strengths – maintaining an inclusive, social and well-managed rugby club that develops the game for all ages and abilities, with the community at its heart. With its new home now secured, the foundations are in place for the next era of growth, ambition and success.
